Dance Photography

Dance is probably my favorite thing to shoot, and it comes down to something simple — dancers already know how to move. I don't have to direct them into a pose or explain what looks good; they're already deeply in touch with their own body position, and everything they do is intentional. They know instinctively what reads well on camera, which means the session just feels natural instead of staged. Mix that with dramatic studio lighting and a fast trigger finger, and you get these unreal, frozen-in-time moments that would be almost impossible to fake with anyone else. I get to shoot it everywhere — full productions and recitals, dancers on location, and one-on-one studio sessions — but the studio work is where that combination really comes alive for me.

I love collaborating on artistic dance sessions, but my availability for them is pretty limited these days. If what you're after is photos of yourself or your child dancer, check out Dance Photography on RaleighPhotographers.com and we can find something that fits.
